You can for a quick estimate put your pointer over your skill points and it tells you how many you have used and also ho many you have. Granted the bonus points from quests and other things will throw things off a bit.

I agree it would be neat to actually see (kinda make me want to grind 200 / 300 / etc..)

I think this is a horrible idea... if this happens certain idiots will start to associate level with skill.

I know plenty that associate Luxon and Kurzick titles with skill : \ there's not much of a difference (besides the PvE skills tied to those titles, of course.)

This is what distinguishes GW from the rest of the compulsory grind games like WoW. There's an Experience Milestone thread in the Screenshot Expo to brag about XP but it will only cause XP elitism in game.

Don't we have skill points for missions/bonuses as well, well at least in Prophecies? And various quests... I'm pretty sure that 21 is a little too low.

Best way to calculate it would be from XP itself.

((Total xp - xp required to reach lvl20)/xp required to lvl at lvl20) + 20 = LVL

Since I'm pretty sure xp required to reach lvl20 = xp required to lvl at lvl20 it simplifies to:

-> (Total xp/xp required to lvl at lvl20) + 19 = LVL

Yes we still need a calculator for it but most of us will have one installed on our computers

Besides, most people who want higher levels in GW want some advantage to go along with it, so this wouldn't satisfy them either.

You mean the players who form "r8+ only" groups? Ya.. thats sad.. for all you know the person FFF'ed the whole title and has no clue how to play ab at all. Its /fail

Just like the GWEN titles btw...

People really do over react to titles and assume others will judge them on their ranks and they simply dont in pve. If they do, then you tell them to get stuffed and grow up. Yes it may add some dmg or protection points to a pve only skill, but no part of the pve game requires pve only skills to be completed.

I accept there may be some players would turn around and use this function to say "ooo your only lvl50, hahahaha".... but would you honestly want to PUG or even talk to a person like that?

I would just ignore them, leave the pug and find someone else to play with!

This is what guilds are for!

What a lot of people ingame and in society dont realise, is that people only behave with childish attitudes because we allow them to and we allow them inpact and influence us. If you enter a PUG and someone judges you for your title, and you then run out and spend hours farming points to increase it then your bassically letting them win!

Just tell people who try to force builds on you, or force you to increase ranks to get stuffed and grow up! If everyone did that, they would soon realise to stop and just enjoy the game instead of trying to control people.
What some have said to me is rank means nothing when pugging in HA.

Though from some stuff I've read, the level cap of 20 is a significant turn off for some players looking to play guild wars and I guess research by Anet has shown the same thing, hence the change for GW2.

COOL, nice idea I'd vote for that why should pvp people get emotes only. Some type of emote for pve players would be wicked!

And the people in-between who think they're the best thing since sliced toast.

The fact of the matter is that it is human nature to try to compare yourself to others, and compulsory to try to be better than them. This will never change, and encouraging it is foolish.

I see this "real" level system as a suggestion with many cons outnumbering the pros.

Firstly, i see it as a way for one to boast his/her own ego.

Secondly, whatever is left of Anet's idea of Skill>time with be beaten down to a bloody pulp.

Those that are not interested in Titles (such as myself) tend to reroll characters, eg. changing features, gender, campaign etc for their profession, and this levelling system restricts them doing so as they feel it will be a great loss.

Fourth - As it has been suggested before - Titles already do that job. Yes it doesn't precisely tell you how experienced a player is. But seeing someone with Legendary skill hunter displayed makes me think that this -person would know what he/she is doing.

Definitely /notsigned

Too many flaws - terrible terrible idea

I found a spreadsheet that was done a while back that will let you know what level you would be. It was done at Gameamp.

Here is a link to the OP: http://guildwars.gameamp.com/forum/showTopic/56549.php

Here is the spreadsheet:http://www.geocities.com/excelcis_mo...evel_Am_I.html

Not sure how accurate it is.
